WHIPPA Canyon EX Pro 60
Regular price $419.00
The Canyon EX Pro is the outcome of years of experience in manufacturing specialty outdoor packs for hiking, climbing and canyoning. We tasked ourselves with the goal of taking our legendary Canyon pack that has stood the test of time and is loved by professional guides, emergency services and recreational canyoners alike and make it lighter, stronger and better! With the Canyon EX Pro we have achieved this goal!
Lighter
The Canyon EX Pro weighs in at just 1.3kgs including a full frame sheet and is 625 grams lighter than Summit Gear’s previous Canyon pack! But it gets even better than that – the body of the Canyon EX Pro is made from EPLX400 – a waterproof laminated fabric that is made from 100% recycled polyester and is 97% UV resistant. EPLX400 has similar abrasion resistance as 1000D Cordura (what we use on our original Canyon Pack) yet is 33% lighter. Due to the nature of the material, EPLX400 absorbs far less water than 1000D Cordura so when the pack is completely wet, it is 900grams lighter than a Cordura pack.
Stronger
The base of the pack is made from Ultra 800X a UHMWPE fabric which is the most abrasion resistant material we can source (abrasion: ATSM 3884 16,000+ Cycles). We have also used Ultra 800X to reinforce all the high wear areas including the front drainage chevron and the bottom of the hipbelts
The Canyon EX Pro 60 comes with a fully gusseted lid that provides great usability and easy access to a large draining pocket that will maintain its space even when the pack is full. We have cored out the frame sheet and the closed cell foam strategically to reduce weight whilst still providing an extremely comfortable, load carrying pack.
Better
To round out our mantra of “Lighter, Stronger, Better” we tasked ourselves with ensuring the pack has superior performance in all areas. The Canyon EX Pro drains twice as fast as our previous Cordura pack! It has a stylish chevron drainage mesh pattern that allows it to reach lower on the pack and also has 6 x SP4 eyelets on the base that dump water out as fast as you can stand up.
The Canyon Ex Pro 60 has 3 internal gear loops for easy access to equipment as well as accessory loops on the front that enable you to easily clip on the Summit Gear Ultralight Helmet net to create more room for other gear if required. The Canyon Ex Pro also comes with a rope portal that you can feed the rope out of the pack whilst absailing so as to reduce the amount of rope that you need to manage outside of the pack.
The Canyon EX Pro 60 is made locally in Australia and built for our testing canyoning conditions. The Whippa factory is powered by 54 Solar panels that provide the clean energy used in manufacturing of the pack. Additionally the EPLX material is made from 100% recycled polyester fibre and film. Each Whippa Canyon EX pack upcycles approximately 25 plastic water bottles and there are no fluorocarbons used in the material. All used fabric and offcuts are recycled locally to form part of the circular economy.

Summit Gear Canyon Guide Pack Cordura
Regular price $386.00
It’s the ultimate canyoning pack with extra room for guiding or a longer trip. The goals of this canyoning pack are to provide carrying comfort, dry bag protection, space to carry out wet gear after the canyon, a pack that does not hold any water that it takes on during those swims and a design to easily haul through those tight spots. We have solved the problem of water in your pack by installing mesh behind the cordura sides of our canyoning packs.
The Summit Gear Canyon Guide pack is 5cm deeper (as highlighted in second image) than the Canyon, giving you an additional 5 litres capacity. This has been achieved without any loss of the legendary Summit Gear durability. We are justifiably proud of this design.
Features:
Optional Framesheet: Our Canyon series packs have a closed cell foam back pad. This pad is quite comfortable, and a flexible pack can be very comfortable when moving through the canyons. We offer an optional framesheet, which utilises an HDPE back panel with 6061-T6 Alloy bar. This framesheet can be custom moulded to the user's back. It is very comfortable when carrying heavier loads as it adds to stability and hiploading. It can be inserted and removed from the Canyon packs at any time, so you may wish to purchase the framesheet and use it for the big days, then remove it for a lighter, more flexible pack at other times.
While Summit Gear products are shown as being in stock, we often have to make them to order. Please call (02 4782 3018) to confirm the timeframe to produce and ship your order.
